Overnight Oats

We’re here—The 4 month sleep regression. Which means, Baby M isn’t sleeping, and quite frankly neither am I. As you know, we’re still doing mornings because mornings don’t stop for any baby or any sleep regression.

In an attempt to streamline our mornings, I’ve finally gotten on the Overnight Oats bandwagon. Especially because I can make ahead and portion it out for the week. Overnight Oats for EVERYONE!!

Care to know something fascinating about the 4 month sleep regression? It’s not so much that she wakes multiple times a night a stays awake, it’s that she has a hard time falling asleep. I was reading (in the thousand mommy blogs, baby books and instagram accounts) that around 4 months is when babies will start to wake fully between each sleep cycle rather than drift between cycles automatically. That’s where Baby M struggles. She can’t get back to sleep, so we end up spending the first 1-2 hours pacing between her crib and the living room helping her get back to sleep so she can get restful sleep.

The other thing most people don’t know is that while formula-fed babies sleep longer stretches at night, breastfed babies still need regular night feedings. YAY ME! Since we haven’t made the leap to formula, and we’re going through that lovely 4 month regression, I’m operating on little sleep as usual.
