Ice Cold Hibiscus Tea

It’s mid-September and still one thousand and one degrees here in Amman. I’m watching everyone at home make cozy fall recipes and I just can’t get myself to start. It’s really hard to get cozy when you’re still sweating up a storm. 

We’re staying extra hydrated and cool with Ice Cold Hibiscus Tea, also known as Karkade. Usually, I have Iced Hibiscus Tea at the Turkish Bath. Once you get out of the sauna and hot tub, they give you freezing cold Hibiscus Tea.

It’s officially winter in Jordan. Actually, I guess winter came along while I was home for Thanksgiving — my most favorite holiday ever. We’ve had a pretty long summer, and the warm days continued on until late November. When I got back, though, it was cold. I wouldn’t say Syracuse on a snow day cold. Or DC in December cold, but definitely significantly colder.

The problem isn’t so much that it’s cold outside… it’s that it’s cold inside. (more…)

It’s starting to get super chilly! I’m not complaining, I love sweater weather. I have made it my life’s mission to find a way to wear sweatshirts to work every day in the winter and pass it off for professional attire. I’m not talking a hoodie. I’m talking a pullover with embroidery, or some sort of embellishment, or just a plain black or grey — my absolute favorite winter color — sweatshirt. So it’s not an impossible feat. I’m dedicated. Back in April, I was in Amman and had the very fortunate luck to try out Seed Healthy, a health food shop specializing in juices, smoothies, and organic food. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t luck. I had been following Seed Healthy on Instagram for a while and just had to check it out. I’m so happy I did because I tried the most delicious date smoothie, and took one to go for my mom. (more…)
